Mars may be scientifically priceless.

But Mars is not a backup Earth.

A mature space age would send better machines, better instruments, better science, and perhaps rare human missions under honest terms. It would not confuse a hostile planet with a promised city.

The rovers did not say, "Come live here."

They said, "I can work here because I am not you."
