Combining their passion for the Arts and their local area in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Creative Youth have set out on a mission to bridge the gap between the local and the wider community. Their collaboration with Kingston University has generated this book, an illustrated record of their findings, revealing the story of Kingston, specifically, its marketplace, as a centre-point and a place to "share ideas and foster community."

By studying the history of FUSEBOX's heritage site, the charity found archaeological links to Kingston's ancient history, dating back to Anglo-Saxon England. Beneath the ground in the Undercroft, to across the River Thames on Kingston Bridge, all linked to Kingston's Ancient Marketplace in the centre of town.

Markets: Ghosts, Manifestations and Visions, is the practical result of this research, connecting the past with the present, young and old; emphasising the importance of community and culture, centred around the market square that is the town's epicentre.

Their reward is a new medium through which cultural exchange and artistic collaboration can be fostered, respecting and learning from the past, whilst also giving a place where the young people of today can develop their creativity and their ideas can become fully formed.
