Esper Matthews thought her life was over the day her sister died. The sister she had raised as her own daughter.
Less than a week later, she finds herself in the company of an ex hit man and a teenage boy with a stubborn streak that rivals her own. Together, they must lead the rest of their group out of the south and to safety, all while avoiding the dead that have begun to rise with nothing but bloodlust to drive them.
Zyran Kogane has failed a mission for the first time. The group he was tasked with protecting fell, not at the hands of the dead that everyone had grown to fear, but at the hands of a group of arrogant survivors. He's intent on giving up, ruling himself a failure, when a girl who simply refuses to die falls into his path. With a new purpose, he's determined to get this one right, and get her and her friends to safety.
But the world looks a lot different than it did before, and uncertainty lurks around every corner. The dead are changing, adapting, and the living seem to be getting worse. Will they be able to survive the waves of zombies, cults, and other violent survivors being thrown at them or will their story end the same as everyone else? With dull eyes, rotting skin, and only hunger to fuel their existence.

This is a stand alone dark urban fantasy with a slow burn romance and a found family to die for.
