This story does a wonderful job at capturing the playfulness and inquisitive nature children have when they are out doors exploring!

Poppy John of course does his best job at fostering Loui's curious nature of the natural world through his story telling and wealth of knowledge, this time about the grass tree!

Of course I always learn something when reading the pages Leanne Murner writes and was thrilled to recognise the grass tree from a recent trip to our local Botanic park!

I love how this story follows Loui back to his classroom show and tell where he proudly shows off his nature finds and all that he learns about the grass tree from his Poppy John.

Loui and the grass tree is a beautiful story about the adventures of Loui and his Pop and learning all about the Australian grass tree. It combines a wealth of knowledge in easy to understand language for children, connecting it to our indigenous culture and all the ways that a grass tree can be used. Such a beautiful story to sit and read together with absolutely stunning illustrations

When I first read this book to my 3 year old daughter I didn't realise how much she'd love it. We read it together almost everyday. This book encouraged us to take an adventure to the forest and look for Grass Trees. We took the book with us and pointed out all the elements from the book and compared to the Grass Tree in the forest. This book is a great learning tool and very informative. The story line and text is easy to read and the illustrations are simple yet hold enough detail for a toddler to describe what's on the page.
