She emerges from the shadows like a ghost-filthy, starving, and reckless enough to risk her life for mine. I should have walked away. Instead, I take her home. The plan was simple: patch her up, feed her, and send her back to whatever darkness she came from.

But beneath the dirt and bruises, I find something unexpected. Pale gold hair. Eyes like stolen sky. A fragility that calls to something raw and possessive inside me.
