Based on an incredible true story

Lion follows Saroo, an Indian boy who becomes separated from his family and ends up halfway around the world. His adopted parents (Nicole Kidman and David Wenham) welcome him with open arms, and Saroo starts to settle into Australian life. While Saroo appears to fit in at his uni course, he can't ignore the desire to find his birth family.

But the place Saroo's family lived in doesn't seem to exist. Tensions start to simmer within his family, and the pressure to find his mother reaches breaking point.

Is Saroo chasing the impossible, or edging closer to finding the truth?

"The beginning is harrowing and the end is heartbreaking." - Christy Lemire, What the Flick?!

"Lion is a beautifully told, uplifting story of courage and determination." - Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times

"Lion is a complex movie, with its profound themes of home and identity, and its tonally disparate halves. A smartly understated approach to Brierley's story holds it all together." - Stephanie Merry, Washington Post

"Its themes are universal. Everyone has a home, and everyone feels connected to it, no matter how far they travel." - Adam Graham, Detroit News
