Lion Rampant: Second Edition is a wargame of medieval skirmish combat allowing players to field warbands or small armies selected from a wide variety of unit types. This book contains all the rules and material required to play whether recreating historical battles or imaginative 'what if' scenarios.

This is a new, updated version of the hit Osprey Wargames Series title Lion Rampant, featuring a wealth of new rules tweaks and updates from several years' worth of player feedback and development while keeping the core game play experience that players enjoyed intact. This new edition also includes additional material for building retinues and playing games set during the Dark Ages, one of the most popular periods for wargaming.

About the Author

Daniel Mersey has spent more than three decades leading miniature armies to spectacular defeat on tabletop battlefields. He has won no medals and his armies will never salute him. Daniel has been writing books, gaming articles, and rulesets since the 1990s. His rulebooks for Osprey Publishing include two Origins Award-nominated titles, Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant, and the UK Games Expo Judges’ Award-winning Rebels and Patriots (with Michael Leck). In 2021, Daniel was appointed as the University of Edinburgh’s first ever Games Designer in Residence.

About the Illustrator

Mark Stacey was born in Manchester, UK, in 1964 and has been a freelance illustrator since 1987. He has a lifelong interest in all periods of history, particularly military history, and has specialized in this area throughout his career. He now lives and works in Cornwall.
