Thirty-two-year-old pediatric cardiologist Reign Alexander Stuart loses his wife on their wedding night, and he blames God and avoids his family. His only solace comes through his work with kids at the hospital and The Light House, a sanctuary for orphaned, abandoned, abused, and sick kids.

Twenty-eight-year-old hospice nurse Rhyan Janelle Laurie quits her job and returns to her hometown and estranged family to work as an event planner for The 3 Wishes Granted Foundation-an organization for sick and dying kids-after she learns she has an incurable disease and only one to three years to live.

Both Reign and Rhyan go through a season of darkness, heartache, loss, and pain, but the light of life comes on Independence Day when their lives collide and romance ensues. Reign finds a reason to love again, and Rhyan finds faith to believe in miracles. But tragedy will test their relationship, threatening the life of one and the heart of the other.
