Learn Cakephp

CakePHP and Li3 (a.k.a. Lithium) lead the pack of PHP frameworks that favor convention over configuration. In other words, their approach is to leave the developer alone-to support a broad level of customization while at the same time offering rapid development solutions. Just follow some conventions and cash in on advanced features. Newcomers eager to take advantage of these tools may encounter documentation that feels foreign or cumbersome, at times even daunting. Beginning CakePHP and Li3, Second Edition will lead you from basic setups of CakePHP and Li3 to building applications that highlight the frameworks' functionality and capabilities without assuming advanced knowledge of the PHP language. This book will orient you to several programming paradigms that can significantly improve your code writing and application design. And, it will teach you how to apply multiple paradigms to Cake and Li3 applications, keeping you in-step with recent trends in professional programming practices. This book targets beginners of CakePHP, Li3, or web frameworks in general as well as experienced developers with limited exposure to Cake and Li3. A secondary audience may include developers undecided on adopting Cake or Li3, or business managers trying to assess the value of incorporating Cake or Li3 into their toolkit. After reading and using this book, you'll come away with enough knowledge to use CakePHP and Li3 frameworks for building fairly complex PHP-based applications, such as the web zine application case study in book with e-commerce.
