The book covers an expanse of nearly forty years, connecting the reader to the real-life events behind the songs, going back to the times when music listening in India was limited to the radio, the 78 RPM shellac, and the occasional visit to the cinema, and later, the vinyl records, cassettes, the 30 minutes Chitrahaar on television every week, and VHS systems which were finding a place in middle-class homes. Apart from delving deep into their memories, the authors also analyse the songs based on their interaction with luminaries including singers, music directors, their progenies, filmmakers, actors, and people connected with film and music in general.
