The human kingdom of Barredom has been at war with the territories of Aggedon ever since the Qindrid Curse gripped the land. What were once humans are now grey-skinned, ageless, sleepless heretics with enhanced impowers affiliated with their descendancy.

When the entire border army of Aggedon vanishes overnight, an order is made to send the Westwalker, the infamous hunter of hunters, to investigate the mysterious disappearance. But the actions of men may test the resolve of the outsider who was long ago forced to undergo the cursed transformation himself.

Meanwhile, the enthralling leader of the northern qindrid has surrendered herself into the custody of the elusive king of Barredom. It is up to the renounced prince of Barredom, Ondrew Roth, and his motley group of spurned knights to escort the enchantress on a clandestine mission beneath enemy territory, through the underground cavernscape of an elvan race thought defeated long ago.

In the capital Honorah Bayn, the Royal Inquisitor, has her own complications, caught in the middle of a political conspiracy with hushed rumors of shapeshifters impersonating those of influence. She must suppress her prejudiced desire to exact revenge on her new elven prisoners that seem to know more than let on. Her late-adolescent children, Ebrielle and Aerik, both have their own agendas, entangled in a web of master manipulators on both sides of the intrigue.
