In Sync

In the tradition of Hollinghurst, Baldwin and Bret Easton Ellis

Brian wasn't looking for love on the 8:32 from Waterloo. Fresh from a disastrous date and nursing a spilled glass of chardonnay, the last thing he needs is complications. But when Ollie-a confident rowing coach with a girlfriend and zero interest in men-offers him napkins and a smile, something shifts.

What starts as chance encounters on London buses and awkward gym sessions becomes something neither can ignore. Ollie's hands linger too long during training. Brian catches himself staring at the mandarin scent of Ollie's shower gel. And that jockstrap Ollie accidentally took home? Maybe it wasn't so accidental after all.

But Ollie has never been with a man. He's never questioned what he wants-until Brian makes him feel dangerously alive. Between the icy waters of the Thames and the intimacy of late-night poetry, Ollie must choose: the safety of what he knows, or the terrifying freedom of what he feels.

Set against the backdrop of London's rowing clubs and riverside pubs, In Sync is a slow-burn British romance about the fine line between friendship and desire, the courage to rewrite your own story, and learning that sometimes the best relationships start with a loose grip and a clean finish.

Perfect for readers who love:

• Friends-to-lovers slow burn
• Straight-to-gay awakening romance
• British sports romance with authentic rowing culture
• Dual POV with distinct character voices
• Touch-starving tension and emotional vulnerability
• Found family and queer joy in modern London
• M/M romance written from the point of view of a gay person

A commitment to Human Authorship: the illustrations are hand-drawn in coloured pencil and Japanese sumi ink, and the writing is entirely human, with no generative tools involved at any stage. All of my recent titles are published with documented provenance, keystroke records among it, giving each book a verifiable authorship history at a moment when that has become worth stating plainly.
