This book is a collection of mental experiences that have had a great impact on physics development.
I tried to translate them in historical order and with as little mathematics as possible:
"...just enough mathematics to HELP and NOT to HINDER the lay reader..."
For a clearer understanding, I added some technical notes with more math.
Why heroic physics?
Because every mental experiment in this book had behind it a certain type of scientist for whom I have a great admiration.
This type of scientist has often been and is very rare because he should have qualities that cannot be gained through learning and cultivated through the routine: a special intuition of important problems, a creative fantasy for many solutions, capacity for detachment from obsessive thinking, and preconceived ideas.
