Skills in learning and studying are vital to ensure success in higher education study, whether at undergraduate or postgraduate level, in university, college or in the workplace. Skills are needed in reflection, analysis, communication and recording information to produce good work, to engage effectively in a group, to carry out a project or perform well in exams; personal skills are needed to handle time and pressure and to relate to others on a course or in the workplace.

This new guide builds on the hugely successful materials the authors have developed over the last 15 years. Along with highly practical guidance on traditional learning skills, The Guide to Learning and Study Skills provides guidance for students on learning in a blended environment, the increased use of personal and professional development planning, continuing professional development and work-based learning.
Industry Reviews
'Accessible, versatile and of long term use to students. Buying books can be a contentious issue for students - I recommend this as one to definitely invest in. Developing and improving study skills is one of the most effective ways of increasing grades and this book is really well presented, clearly laid out and with lots of checklists and questions. As a tutor it is a good core text to recommend to students and one that will help me prepare teaching in this area. However, with an emphasis on lifelong learning and the need in quite a few areas to offer evidence based practice this book will have a shelf life beyond a degree. There are lots of cross references making information easy to find and an emphasis on personal development planning and learning from experience which are both invaluable skills in the workplace. The book is also useful if you need to support other staff in such things as report writing or making a presentation. It also has a good section on time management which is worth occasionally revisiting.' Amazon Reviewer
