Greek Tragedies, Volume III contains Aeschylusâs âThe Eumenides,â translated by Richmond Lattimore; Sophoclesâs âPhiloctetes,â translated by David Grene; Sophoclesâs âOedipus at Colonus,â translated by Robert Fitzgerald; Euripidesâs âThe Bacchae,â translated by William Arrowsmith; and Euripidesâs âAlecestis,â translated by Richmond Lattimore. Sixty years ago, the University of Chicago Press undertook a momentous project: a new translation of the Greek tragedies that would be the ultimate resource for teachers, students, and readers.
