This book teaches the basics of object oriented programming using C++. The objective is to get the readers started on programming and lay the foundation for them to learn more. Basics of C++ and object oriented programming concepts are explained with examples. The emphasis throughout the book is on using programming to solve problems rather than a detailed syntactical description of features of C++. Content of Part 1 and a part of Chapter 5 was used as a first course on programming for first year undergraduate engineering students. The rest of the book was used to teach C++ and object oriented programming to engineering professionals already familiar with a programming language such as BASIC, FORTRAN and C but new to object oriented programming.
