Get Ready! for Social Studies

This title is part of a series, Get Ready! for Social Studies, a follow up to the 14 titles already in the Get Ready Series. The book will assist parents in helping their kids develop the core skills they desperately need to do well in their classes, and to perform at grade level in Social Studies subjects. Parents are often at a loss when it comes to helping their children develop necessary study skills, experiencing anxiety at the realization that how their kids perform now can affect their futures permanently. As with the rest of the Series, these five new books will bring sorely needed help. For those students who have a weakness in a Social Studies-specific area, these targeted books will provide expert techniques and practice exercises to bring performance up to speed in class work, and as a bonus, give them a head start toward prep for state-mandated tests. The new Get Ready titles will be filled with tips and techniques for parents who want to help optimize their children's classroom performance. Given the emphasis on writing skills and on writing across the curriculum, parents are looking for help in guiding students through the writing and research processes. Get Ready For Book Reports, Essays, And Research Papers provides step-by-step instruction, models, and practice exercises. (Economics was considered as a title for this fifth book in the series. However, because state curricula do not emphasize economics at grades 4-8 as heavily as the other parts of social studies, this proposal opts, rather, to integrate economics concepts in the books for history, geography, and government and citizenship.)
