Genesis: A Verse by Verse Commentary
Bible Teachings by John Becker
Genesis is where everything begins—creation, humanity, sin, promise, and the unfolding plan of God.
From the opening words, "In the beginning," to the closing scene of a coffin in Egypt, Genesis tells the story of how a perfect world was broken—and how God immediately began working to restore what was lost. This commentary walks carefully through each chapter, drawing out the meaning of the text while keeping the focus where it belongs: on the character of God and the hope found in Him.
You'll follow the lives of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph—not as distant figures, but as real people navigating faith, failure, waiting, and redemption. Their stories reveal a God who calls, pursues, provides, and remains faithful even when people are not.
Written in a clear and conversational style, this verse-by-verse study is designed to help readers:
- Understand the flow and structure of Genesis
- See the connection between Old Testament events and New Testament truth
- Recognize the themes of grace, covenant, and redemption woven throughout
- Apply timeless truths to everyday life
Whether you're reading Genesis for the first time or returning to it again, this commentary invites you to slow down, look closely, and see what God has been saying from the very beginning.
Because Genesis is not just about how things started.
It's about where everything is going.
