The first extensive exploration of Elmgreen & Dragset's spatial interventions

The catalogue "Elmgreen & Dragset: Spaces" will be published on the the occasion of the artists' solo exhibition at the Amore Pacific Museum of Art in Seoul, opening August 28th, 2024. It will be the first extensive publication to focus solely on the artist duo's practice ofspatial alteration. Since the early days of their collaboration, the artists have reconfiguredconventional exhibition spaces, transforming them into settings that are familiar, yet unexpectedin a gallery context, including institutional spaces and both domestic and publicareas. Populated with their sculptural works, these environments invite exploration andallow visitors to complete the narrative fragments offered within. By juxtaposing exhibitionspaces with incongruous settings or situations, the artists encourage visitors to investigatethe social, cultural, and political structures embedded within everyday settings. In size and in design, "Spaces" will emulate "Sculptures," an Elmgreen & Dragset catalogue published for the eponymous show at the Nasher Museum (2019) that focuses on the artists' sculptural works. Together, the two publications will create a comprehensive survey of the practice of Elmgreen & Dragset.
