This play is about Easter Rising (also known as the Easter Rebellion), an armed insurrection that took place in Ireland during Easter Week in 1916. Mounted by Irish republicans, it ended British rule and establish an independent Irish Republic. Organized by seven members of the Military Council of the Irish Republican Brotherhood, the rising was led by schoolmaster and activist Patrick Pearse. Dramatist Brian Gordon Sinclair is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre from the University of Denver. He has also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England and at the National Film Board of Canada.
