A board book that explores all the different types of vibrant fabric patterns found in the patchwork of a child’s quilt.

In this eye-popping, stylish board book from artist and graphic designer Morissa Rubin, young readers are introduced to the shapes and movement of different fabric patterns that come together to form a child’s quilt.

From the swirling spirals of calico and the tidy diamond lines of argyle, to the brilliant blocks of kente cloth and Uroko’s fish-like scales, Dot, Dot, Polka Dot treats children to a colorful tour of popular designs from around the world, while teaching them their unique names.

About the Author

Morissa Rubin is a graphic designer. Her work has been recognized by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Sacramento Advertising Club, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, and Graphic Design USA. After many years working in-house at the Mondavi Center for the Arts and at UC Davis, she maintains a solo design practice.

She has worked on a large variety of projects including logos and brand identity, brochures, magazines, signage, general collateral and advertising for both printed and digital media for a range of clients including the Girl Scouts and University of the Pacific. She received her BFA in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MS from MIT's Visible Language Workshop.

She lives in Sacramento, California where she teaches typography and other design courses at UC Davis and Sacramento State University.
