Dicheall

1866. The guns of the American Civil War have fallen silent, but for the Irish exiles who fought in it, another war is already beginning.

Seamus McKenna survived Antietam and Fredericksburg, only to return to a Manhattan overflowing with poverty, political corruption, and restless Irish veterans dreaming of liberation. When the Fenian Brotherhood unveils a bold and desperate plan to strike at the British Empire by invading Canada, Seamus joins thousands of fellow immigrants willing to risk everything for a free Ireland they may never live to see.

Marching north alongside hardened soldiers, idealistic revolutionaries, and young recruits hungry for purpose, Seamus becomes part of a volunteer army crossing into hostile territory under green banners and ancient battle cries. But the campaign quickly deteriorates into a brutal test of endurance. Through freezing bogs, dense pine forests, and bloody hilltop battles against British regulars and Canadian militias, the Irish rebels discover that courage alone cannot overcome betrayal, political abandonment, and the machinery of empire.

Inspired by the real Fenian Raids of 1866-1871, Dicheall is a historical fiction novella of war, exile, brotherhood, and resistance. Rich with historical atmosphere and grounded in the lived experiences of Irish-Americans, it tells the story of a forgotten revolutionary campaign and the men who gave everything to the long national liberation struggle of Ireland.
