Azalea Jinx, a twenty-two-year-old widow, will do anything to feel something. The problem isn't that she can't feel anything at all, but, rather, the only emotions left are ones that she doesn't want controlling her; emotions like anger, jealousy, and boredom.

After an abrupt move to Orlando, Florida, in search of a fresh start, Azalea is given one in the form of an abduction by the handsome man in her mirror. This man offers Azalea the chance of a lifetime: the chance to regain her emotions.

Once she accepts her place at the Draxmere Academy of Conjuring, Azalea quickly discovers the inherent dangers of a school whose one goal is to train their students to battle against Reapers: evil creatures created by the centuries-old Grim who plagues both the Conjuring and human worlds. All too quickly she decides it's a risk she is willing to take to stabilize her emotions and be normal again. In this new world, she discovers new powers, new friends, and new relationships that just might destroy her.
