Meet Colleen Hoover

Often known to her fans as ‘CoHo’, Hoover studied a degree in social work and spent some years in these roles before starting her writing career.

However, she never truly planned to become an author. She was inspired to write her first book by a song lyric, then published the work so her mother would have something to read on her new ereader.

Her rare talent of combining several genres in one book is said to be not just a major part of her success, but also thanks to her history of self-publishing her own books. Without the traditional restrictions of sticking to one genre, she was able to essentially carve out her own niche, and become a household name for readers everywhere in the process.

Hoover has been quite open with the fact that she takes inspiration from her own life for her works. Even though her themes often touch on dark topics such as abusive relationships, infidelity, and miscarriage, she has taken her own experiences and knowledge and weaved them into her craft.

In 2015, she and her family founded a non-profit called The Bookworm Box, a bookstore and monthly book subscription service. Today, she lives in Texas with her husband and their three boys.
