Colour Blind

A short story written in Autumn 2024 during a Writer's Retreat. We were tasked with writing on the theme of Colour after talking about the autumn leaves and how they made us feel. The discussion continued touching on how we use colour in many ways when describing a scene. Things like "the red mist descended" and "he woke up feeling blue again." Of course I had to take it in a different direction and this short story was the result.

While funding was always a concern, the bigger issue turned out to be finding enough staff for care facilities. The robotics industry stepped forward with a range of robot caregivers. But what happens when the robots interpret their instructions a bit too literally?

Just occasionally, my mind drifts off into bizarre places. I had a dream one night about Time, who, as it turns out, are a family living in Liverpool. Who knew?

Whisper Drift

It may seem that I have a love of stories about a dystopian future, and I confess I do like examining what might go wrong in the future. The last story in this collection shines a slightly different light on the future. I hope you like it.
