Twenty-year-old Cherry is a survivor, a connoisseur of cheap diners and the unwilling host to three "Alternates" no one else can see. There's Uncle, a hulking brute with a protective streak; Daisy, a six-year-old embodiment of pure optimism; and Elwood, a silent, six-foot-tall rabbit. To the medical establishment, they are a textbook case of Dissociative Identity Disorder - symptoms of a childhood trauma Cherry would rather forget.

But these "hallucinations" are starting to break the rules. When the mural of a giant squid comes to life, it isn't a doctor who saves her-it's Uncle's very real, very heavy fists. As blood begins to rain over the city and static-eyed monsters crawl out of television screens, Cherry realizes her Alternates aren't just in her head. They are her only shield against a reality that is rapidly deconstructing.

In a world where art comes to life and ancient gods hide in plain sight, Cherry will have to stop fighting her demons and start leading them. Because when the world ends, it helps to have a six-foot rabbit on your side.
