Cenacolo is a historical drama based on a not-so-fictional encounter between three of the most famous characters of the Renaissance, Leonardo Da Vinci, Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan, and Niccolo Machiavelli. The action takes place at the height and glory of the Milanese court, while Leonardo labored to finish his most famous creation, the fresco at the refectory of the Santa Maria delle Grazie known as the Cenacolo, (The Last Supper), which depicts Jesus Christ's repast with his apostles on the eve of the passion. The plot unfurls the eternal philosophical debate of good against evil; intrigue, falsehood, wickedness, manipulation and treason, versus the ignorant simplicity of innocence, and where torture and murder confront the sublime artistic expression of the human spirit. Cenacolo was the winner of the San Juan Theater Festival of 1996 and was presented as a workshop in Lincoln Center, NYC, in 1995.
