*Note: I want to purchase this book. I have just loaned it from the library and will now be purchasing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Benjamin Gilmour, and it has opened my eyes to the people that are living in the war-torn country. It was so unexpected, with the humour that is shown from the people, to how Gilmour had managed to pull off making a movie in the most surreal locations. To also have the beauty of the country highlighted through the beautiful imagery is only another reason why this book was so hard to put down. It is a beautiful book, which is so easy to read and enjoy. Moments of sadness are captured beautifully through Gilmour's writing and it only makes me more determined to find a copy of the film, "Jirga", which this book is writing about. For those that only see Afghanistan as a war-torn country which has no chance of having anything positive - read this book. It will show you how much you have not realised about this country. It's another perspective of the people and as I have also been there, it's a view which I have neglected to be respectful of myself. This book has been an education.
