Clark H. Pinnock (1937-2010) was arguably one of the most noted, productive, and provocative Christian theologians in North American evangelical Christianity in the late twentieth century. Considering how challenging he is to classify and yet how significant his work has been, Pinnock should be widely studied today. However, for many, their first introduction to Pinnock's writing is facilitated through various critical sources. For too long, Pinnock's theology has been stuck within the confines of tired stereotypes and overly simplistic summaries. Andrew Ray Williams, then, gives Pinnock a fresh and fair hearing, outlining some of his major themes while also providing an accessible point of entry into his theology. In doing so, this book is usable and profitable for both longtime fans as well as critics of Pinnock, while also offering first-time readers of Pinnock an open-minded position from which to read him.
Industry Reviews
“What a beautiful book! Andrew Ray Williams presents the mature version of Clark Pinnock’s theology, offering a helpful entry into the ideas of this major thinker. Readers get the core of Pinnock’s thought by looking at six major themes. Williams occasionally notes how Pinnock’s views differ from those of other theologians. The result is a powerful articulation of open theology with the Spirit of love front and center.”
—Thomas Jay Oord, author of The Uncontrolling Love of God

“The theology of Clark Pinnock is worth more contemporary attention than isolating select aspects of it to carry on the debate over ‘inerrancy’ and ‘open theism.’ Taken as a whole, it carries an insightful freshness and breadth well positioned as an ecumenical-evangelical-charismatic theology at its best. It’s biblical, dynamic, orthodox, and postmodern all at once. Andrew Ray Williams captures all this well in Boundless Love. Remarkably, his fine work covers the essential ground in relatively brief space. His book is thoughtful, well informed, and highly recommended.”
—Barry L. Callen, author of Clark H. Pinnock: Journey toward Renewal

“Clark Pinnock has left an indelible mark on contemporary evangelical Christianity. Andrew Ray Williams does not only provide a fair and accessible explanation of the late Clark Pinnock’s more controversial theological perspectives, but also shows why Pinnock is considered one of the more creative, constructive, and thought-provoking North American evangelical theologians of his generation.”
—Kenneth J. Archer, Barnett College of Ministry and Theology, Southeastern University
