About the Author

Katsushika Hokusai was born in 1760 in Edo (now Tokyo) and he created over 30,000 works of art during his long career, ranging from woodblock prints to sketches and book illustrations. He died in 1849, but his legacy endures. He influenced countless artists including many famous European impressionists.
