In Speeding, Green Candy's collection of Old Reliable's black-and-white male photography, David Hurles' work was brought back to several generations of gay men whose darkest fantasies have long been rooted in these iconic images. Now Outcast: David Hurles' Old Reliable in Living Color celebrates the emotionally charged and uninhibited full color work of this pioneering photographer and his legendary company Old Reliable. Outcast features 200 color photographs selected by the artist himself to showcase his favorite and most memorable work from the `70s, `80s and `90s.

As a visual record of raw masculine ambition, the photographs of David Hurles vibrate with self-assurance and dangerous sexuality. Hurles, whose own history resonates with the same gutter intensity as the images he created, documented drifters, grifters and hustlers---men from America's hard underbelly with names like Cobra Jim, Cash and Spider, whose biographical notes read like rap sheets. Hurles' style is unmistakable, downplaying technical polish in favor of the unvarnished emotional truth of his muscular, tattooed subjects. His ability to find and communicate with his models helped him to capture an aura of erotic menace no porn script could ever mimic.
