Boorun’s Canoe: a continuing story of cultural pride and knowledge is a fascinating story of family, connection, knowledge and history by Indigenous artist Steaphan Paton. Steaphen tells the story of how he, his brothers and cousins learnt how to make a canoe using traditional methods, from their grandfather, Senior Gunai/Kurnai Elder Albert Mullett.

A journey of passing on knowledge from one generation to the next. Boorun the Pelican was a Gunai/Kurnai ancestor who carried a bark canoe on his head across the mountains and down to the water at Port Albert, in Victoria. Boorun and Tuk, the musk duck, were the mother and father of all Gunai/Kunai peoples.
