As a solitary black bird wings its way through the day, little ones are treated to a magnificent flight from one vibrant color to another. Inimitable illustrator Steve Light showcases a new style in this board book for the youngest readers.

Children can journey with the graceful black bird and its tiny worm friend past orange leaves, through green grass, onto gray rocks, under pink flowers, and more before coming to rest beneath a brilliant blue moon.

A subtle concept book about colors, Steve Light’s newest work weaves a gentle narrative about a bird and his friend, a worm.
From the talented Steve Light, author/illustrator of Have You Seen My Dragon?, Lucky Lazlo, and many more comes a beautifully simple board book about a bird’s colorful journey through the day.
In a stunning departure from his signature pen-and-ink drawings, Black Bird Yellow Sun’s art in done acrylic ink on cardboard and collage.

Industry Reviews

A delightful journey through a day filled with bright exciting colors...The story provides ample opportunities to talk about sizes, shapes, textures, and colors. Adventurous and exciting but simple enough for even the earliest readers, this is an excellent board book and a first purchase.

Once again, Light (Trucks Go, 2008, etc.) shows his understanding of the target age group. Beautiful in its simplicity, this book deserves a spot on any toddler's bookshelf.

Black Bird Yellow Sun succeeds on many levels and is sure to become a favorite board book, sparking a strong sense of story in the littlest readers.
