Sometimes love means having to broaden your literary horizons

Frankie Rose is desperate for love. Or a relationship. Or just a date with a semi-normal person will do.

It’s not that she hasn’t tried. She’s the queen of online dating. But enough is enough. Inspired by her job at The Little Brunswick Street Bookshop, Frankie decides to take fate into her own hands and embarks on the ultimate love experiment.

Her plan? Plant her favourite books on trains inscribed with her contact details in a bid to lure the sophisticated, charming and well-read man of her dreams.

Enter Sunny, and one spontaneous kiss later, Frankie begins to fall for him. But there’s just one problem – Frankie is strictly a classics kind of gal, and Sunny is really into Young Adult. Like really.

A clever, funny and wryly observed story about books and discovering who you really are.

Great Australian book that keeps you captivated throughout and nearly breaks your heart when it ends. i loved this book so much i finished it in one seating and im desperately trying to find another like it. it appeals to my romantic fantasies all whilst staying real and relatable through the characters personality and personal journey. An extremely easy read however does feel rushed in points and lacking in depth in some scenes but did not deter me from loving every second of the escape it offered.

So lovely to read a book about a city so familiar. A fun, witty and beautifully crafted story about a modern Melbourne woman's quest for love, passion, and inspiration. Frankie, a twenty-something modern woman is trying to find herself and her place in the world. She is at a professional, and romantic cross road. With the help of her quirky and compassionate bestie, Cat, she embarks on a mission to take control- one book at a time. This novel is a love letter to all bookworms out there. An absolute delight to read.

Didn't quite hit the mark

I expected more. I thought it would be a faster paced. It started well enough but seems to have run out of steam mid way. That was disappointing because I loved the idea of the plot and the fact it was referencing Melbourne so much as well as all the books, particularly as I have ready quite a few of those mentioned.

The Book Ninja is the best book I've read this year! Hilarious, witty, romantic and packed with clever literary references that made me want to add to my TBR pile every few minutes, as well as loveable quirky characters including a turtle-neck wearing turtle named Winnie - this book is 5 stars from me!
