Five Aussie authors (The Fab Five) are hitting the road this July, visiting five towns in five days before ending up at the Byron Writers Festival, all as part of the Five Writers Road Trip.

And who are these Fab Five? Just some of Australia’s most talented writers – Luke Carman, Kate Forsyth, Gabbie Stroud, Jesse Blackadder and Miles Merrill. They’ll be captained (ahem, kept into line) by Zacharey Jane.

For five days they’ll be talking and reading for free at pubs, clubs, cafes, galleries, schools, libraries, service stations, bus stops … wherever there are readers, The Fab Five will go.

They’ll begin Friday 29 July, making stops at Coffs Harbour, Mullumbimby, Ballina, Brunswick Heads and Lennox Head, before ending up at the Byron Writers Festival on Saturday 6 August.

This is the second year the Five Writers Road Trip will be taking place, prompted by the resounding success of last year’s road trip. As Byron Writers Festival Director, Edwina Johnson, says “Word has spread since last year’s fantastic ‘Five Writers’ tour sparking requests from readers throughout northern NSW for the crew to visit their town. The Fab Five have a full coastal itinerary planned that’s bound to enthrall and entertain.”

Not to mention the 2016 round of The 555 Tag-Team Storytelling Cup where the writers make up stories live on stage with some ‘help’ from the audience. The writers tell me that they are rearing to go, wanting the glory of their name etched upon the mighty 555 Cup. All the events are free and open to all comers. See you there!
