Behemoth follows the adventures of His Majesty's Airship Leviathan to Istanbul, capital of the Ottoman Empire and home to countless secret societies and revolutionaries. Deryn and Alek find themselves at odds with their mentors and with each other, as their duties collide with the politics of war and peace. Will the Ottomans join the Clanker allies in the Great War? Or will Dr Barlow's diplomatic mission succeed? Will Deryn's secret be revealed?

About The Author

Scott Westerfeld spends his southern hemisphere summers in Sydney, Australia, and his northern hemisphere summers in New York City. He was born in Texas and has been a musician, software game designer and ghost-writer; but writing under his own name turned out to be the most fun. He is not nearly as cool as Hunter in So Yesterday (he says) which won the 2005 Victorian Premier's Literary Award for Young Adult Fiction, but his writing definitely is.

His novels have been named New York Times Notable Books of the Year, made the Times' Essential Summer Reading List, and awarded the Philip K Dick Special Citation. He has contributed essays and stories to Scifi.com, Nerve.com, Nerve, and Book Forum. He has two series' Uglies and Midnighters which won the Aurealis award for Best Young Adult Fantasy.

Scott's next book for Penguin Australia is The Leviathan Trilogy, with book 1 being published in October 2009. Penguin have also published So Yesterday and Peeps.

Keith Thompson began his artistic journey in high school, doing the odd freelance job and working in a small animation production studio. In college he studied illustration then pursued his chosen career using the web widely to gain exposure and work. He has produced work as static art, for computer games (Borderlands), for movies (Nothing Safer) and as the illustrator for Scott Westerfeld's trio of books beginning with Leviathan; amongst other printed works (Keith Thompson's Book of the Dead).
