This study is the first specifically to be written on medieval Irish grave slabs, and is also unprecedently comprehensive in gathering information on all such known slabs in County Tipperary. The slabs are often intricately decorated with Christian symbols as well as personal information, and an iconographical study can contribute to our understanding of medieval society and culture.
