This book aims at auralization, or the creation of audible acoustic scenes from computer-generated data. The term "auralization" is to be understood as an analogue to the well-known technique of "visualization". In visual illustration of scenes such as in movie animation and computer graphics, we describe the process of making data or any other meaningful information visible as visualization. In acoustics, auralization occurs when acoustic effects, primarily sound signals by means of sound reinforcement or sound transmission, are processed and presented by electro-acoustic equipment.
