This book teaches active and passive movement testing, a pair of basic skills essential to both diagnozing and treating patients with orthopaedic conditions. Active movement testing is examining the contractile (muscle) function of anatomical structures comprising a joint. Passive movement testing is examining the inert (ligament, joint, capsule) function of anatomical structures comprising a joint. The PT will use data from each test to determine which anatomical structure is most likely the source of dysfunction for each patient. Over 400 illustrations provide visual and written instructions for each examination. The book, which follows the "Guide to Physical Therapy Practice", provides comprehensive information on most active and passive movement tests for all areas of the body. No other text provides such comprehensive coverage, including evaluation techniques for the extremities, all parts of the spine, pelvis and temporomandibular joints.
