Sarah Wilson was a self-confessed sugar addict, eating over 30 teaspoons of sugar every day. She'd developed mood disorders, a weight issue, sleep problems and an overactive thyroid. She knew she had to make a change. In January 2011, she decided to quit sugar. What started as an experiment soon became a way of life, and she hasn't looked back since.

This book outlines the dangers of sugar, provides a step-by-step guide to kicking the habit, and provides 80 delicious sugar-free recipes. Packed with great advice, fun tips, personal stories and gorgeous photography, this is a sensible, simple and accessible guide to losing weight and getting well.

It is obvious that the writer has researched this subject well and used it herself. After quitting sugar a couple of years ago I have been on the hunt for a good recipe book for sugar free alternatives to indulge in once in awhile. So I bought this book without having a sneak peak at the contents first (will never do that again). I was not impressed when I started reading and discovered that half the book is dedicated to recipes for savory meals ... So I thought I would make a few of the sweet-type recipes. Note/ I followed them exactly as written - and well they were totally unpalatable!...the biscuits that contained stevia were crumbly and had a disgusting after taste (I will concede this might not be the authors fault, just my aversion to stevia!)... but after trying another recipe that was claimed to be a chocolate alternative I have come to the conclusion she has not made these herself. Completely disappointing

For a variety of reasons my teenagers and I wanted to reduce the sugars in our diet. I am usually sceptical about these sorts of books because they tell you what you shouldn't do, but fail to walk you through the alternatives. This book not only gives you alternatives, but makes it easy to make the change.
