The Land Remembers...
Before the fires of King Philip's War consumed New England, there was still time for peace.
Yellow Feather, the first installment of The Metacom Saga, begins an epic historical fiction series chronicling the collision of two worlds in seventeenth-century New England-a sweeping saga of diplomacy, betrayal, survival, and the people caught between them.
In the forests and coastal villages of the 1660s, Ousamequin-Massasoit, Grand Sachem of the Wampanoag Confederacy-has spent a lifetime maintaining a fragile alliance with the growing English colonies. For decades, diplomacy has preserved peace. But age is overtaking the great sachem, and the world he fought to protect is beginning to fracture.
As English settlements spread deeper into Native lands, old agreements unravel. Suspicion grows among colonists and tribal leaders alike. Younger generations inherit a world shaped by uneasy compromise, while powerful men and women on both sides struggle to determine what must be sacrificed to survive.
Told through multiple perspectives-Wampanoag and English, leaders and settlers, warriors and families-Yellow Feather reveals the deeply human story behind the road to King Philip's War. As alliances weaken and tensions rise, the question is no longer whether conflict will come...only how much will be lost when it does.
Richly grounded in historical and genealogical research, Yellow Feather is the opening chapter of an unforgettable historical epic.
