This book is meant to bridgethe gap between parents and children from different generations with this book. As a result of these cultural and philosophical differences, many parents and children have become estranged. According to a survey conducted by Pillemer in 2019, twenty-seven percent of Americans are currently estranged from a relative. I believe that they will see each other's point of view by reading the slang vocabulary, mass media, and philosophy of each generation. These are sources that influence their behavior and priorities. I hope that the reader will be inspired with an internal thought process and unpack the ideologies and misunderstandings between the generations so that they can openly communicate. This book encourages the reader to understand the influences that formed each generation's ideology about what they believe is important to them.

Since generational influences form who we are and how we think, I believe that understanding them could introspectively offer empathy between different generations. Even though we all grew up on earth, each generation has very different ideologies. This book was written to be a conduit for the vii Boomer, GenXers, and Millennials to understand one another. To also understand why each generation has such strong convictions to their ideologies. As a human you are not responsible for the way you were raised, the belief system installed in you, and your survival mechanism. Understanding the way a generation is wired could help families understand one another better.

There are several books, articles, podcasts, online forums, and meetup groups, that discuss estrangement between adult children and parents today. It's an epidemic. Both sides are angry and hurt. This book is not about giving the reader coping mechanisms to deal with the pain, loss and anger. There are tons of therapists, sociologists, and life coaches giving out advice. My background is in physics and education. This book offers information (i.e. data) about what influences each generation and allows the reader to make their own conclusion. With that conclusion, see where it fits into your own relationship within your own family.

After reading this book, I hope that the reader can recollect scenarios in their life and pin point generational ideological differences that caused friction between their own children or their parents and place a new perspective on it. As the author, I believe that understanding what you're dealing with is the first step toward resolving ill feelings and tensions. This book is primarily based on American family dynamics. However, I believe that we live in a global community and that some of the points in this book applies to family tensions internationally. Other parents and children outside the United States may also be suffering the estrangement phenomena. This is where either party feels that they don't want to cope, confront, or communicate their unique differences that shape each generation. I do not have the answers, I only present the picture of what shapes us. I hope that you enjoy reading this book and take something away that could benefit your relationship.
