It's difficult to read, but these are real statistics. It hits even harder when you realize that someone you know may be silently suffering in a world that treats conversations about mental health as taboo.

Harley Vaughn set out on a challenging endeavor by writing a book about her personal mental health struggles—in poetic form. Within the pages of Trigger Warning, she explores depression, self-harm, and the courage of getting help. In addition, she writes about what most young adults experience in their lives—love, loss, and self-esteem struggles—and also things no woman should experience.

Vaughn turns that hard fact—and her own experience—into prose as well. Trigger Warning is a collection of poems about the downward spiral of mental health issues, the many battles most young women undergo in their lifetimes, and the celebration of triumph and recovery.
