After calling off her engagement to a cheat, Dr Alice Gray takes solace in the beautiful old rectory she bought and lovingly restored using a legacy left to her by her Grandma. The rectory is haunted by a playful spirit, whom Alice and her friend and lodger, Julia, regard as their third housemate. They even enjoy the ghost's mischievous pranks, especially when they are played on Alice's unsuspecting ex. When the love rat drops another bombshell and demands half of what Alice's house is worth, strange things begin to happen. Alice finds she is able to take trips to the year 1899 and the ghost has something to with it. The past becomes very attractive when Alice meets the gorgeous, but morose, Chief of Police, Gideon Fletcher who is half way to believing she is crazy. What is the ghost up to and why has Alice suddenly become a time traveller? What does it have to do with a century old unsolved murder? This is a captivating, sweetly passionate romance with some moving medical drama, some laughs, one or two tears, and likeable characters. It will show you that love is eternal and the most powerful force in the universe.
