Kilpatrick fought drought, floods, rustlers and Indians as he trailed four-thousand head of longhorns the thousand miles from Texas to the Kansas railhead. But it was only when he finally hit the raw new town of Gunsight that his troubles really began. Gunsight had started life as a town where cattle could be bought for the best price and the men who'd driven them there would get a fair shake of the whip. But now everything was different.
