The Rain Forest is a shortened version of Plantation (Ebook: Earth's Revenge) with a character Angela and all associated with her removed, including Nicola's stay and meeting her at Christchurch.

Commencing with a cyclonic storm surge drowning downtown Auckland, The Rain Forest dares to challenge the World's puppet governments and an economic system that requires environmental destruction to satisfy human need and greed: until nature retaliates.
Central character, Nicola is invited to join a conference in Nairobi, Kenya. While on a field day a colleague Des Tairoa suggests they start a tree planting project that day. Easier said than done when their efforts on the slopes of the Ngorongoro massif in Tanzania are thwarted by those whose avaricious livelihoods are threatened.

Governments are overturned, and despite massive efforts disease and starvation annihilate entire nations: mostly of the Western World. Nicola and her colleagues live a relatively charmed life, almost oblivious of the disasters overtaking their homelands.
