When Sam stops a robber from murdering a woman at a dry cleaners, the incident exposes him to the commandant and drastically changes the course of his life. The commandant's clandestine actions bring Sam into contact with the supermodel Astrid Tanzen, which advances his agenda when the couple produce a son that he believes has perfect genes.
The commandant's process has enhanced Sam, his family, and his friends, making them 40 percent stronger, faster, and smarter. However, these enhancements might not be enough to ensure their survival with the challenges they will face in the new world they have been forced to colonize.
