Falling in love was easy. Deciding what to do about it was a little more difficult.
When Jack meets Helena at Tom's party he knows straight away that she is the one for him, despite not being in a position to be thinking any such thing.
As a man of experience he sees that he needs to deal with it, but with his current situation things start to get complicated. Added to which, the well-meaning or not so well-meaning interest of colleagues creates a complication that Jack could do without.
He begins the process of turning things around, and a few months later they're starting to improve. Then at another one of Tom's parties, he meets up again with Helena and they start to look even better.
But despite knowing exactly what he's doing, Jack finds that getting to where he wants to be is more of a challenge than he had expected.
