Jack Riewoldt
Jack Riewoldt is a three-time premiership player, three-time Coleman Medallist, and a three-time All-Australian player. He’s one of the most beloved recent Australian Rules footballers, especially amongst the Richmond Football Club. After all, he’s a 12-time Richmond club leading goal kicker, and served as their vice-captain for three premiership seasons.
In late 2023, Jack also published his first book, The Bright Side. He talks about his early days, the misunderstanding that hounded him, the importance of his family, and his rise to AFL stardom. Meet Jack Riewoldt
Jack Riewoldt was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1988. He played junior football during his younger years, and debuted as a senior with Clarence when he was 16.
He would then go on to train with the Tassie Mariners at TAC Cup level, and represent Tasmania at the 2006 AFL Under 18 Championships. During these championships, he kicked eight goals in total, and was heralded as one of the best players on the team on two occasions.
Despite towering at 6 foot 5, he was initially considered to not be tall enough for goalkicking full forward or a centre half forward. Nevertheless, he was drafted by Richmond in 2007 and stayed with the team racking up the goals and making a name for himself as a senior team member.
For the following decade, Riewoldt would solidify himself as a powerhouse on the field. He improved his endurance and athleticism, managed various injuries and minor surgeries, and played through grief. In his personal life, Jack married his long-time girlfriend in 2016, and the two have since welcomed two daughters to their family.
