Sui Ishida
Sui Ishida born December 28, 1986 at Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, is a Japanese manga artist. He is most recognized for his compelling dark fantasy series, Tokyo Ghoul, narrating the journey of Ken Kaneki, a young man transformed into a ghoul following a fateful encounter. Originally serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine from 2011 to 2014, the series expanded its reach with adaptations into a light novel and anime in 2014. The English translation of the manga achieved significant success, securing a spot atop The New York Times Best Seller list in 2015.
In 2013, a digital serialization titled Tokyo Ghoul [Jack], serving as a prequel, briefly appeared on Jump Live. Subsequently, Ishida embarked on a sequel in 2014, titled Tokyo Ghoul:re. The Tokyo Ghoul narrative further found expression in a live-action film released in Japanese theaters in 2017, and an anime adaptation for Tokyo Ghoul:re commenced airing in March 2018, followed by a second season in October 2018.
In 2016, Ishida showcased his versatility by crafting a 69-page storyboard for a manga chapter inspired by Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter × Hunter series. This storyboard, exploring the backstory of the character Hisoka, was digitally released on June 2, 2016, via Shonen Jump+.
Venturing into new creative territory, Ishida initiated the manga series Choujin X on May 10, 2021, hosted on Shueisha's Tonari no Young Jump website.
